Images that have been come from the crash site of an Indian Air Force helicopter showed enormous flames and villagers assisting with the first rescue efforts. The officials are conducting rescue missions on the location. According to ANI, local military officers have arrived at the scene.
The flight manifest for General Rawat’s trip from Delhi to Sulur earlier today indicated nine persons. Five more people, possibly crew, were on the aeroplane from Sulur. The Russian-made Mi-17 V5 chopper crashed in the Nilgiris shortly after taking off from the Air Force facility in Sulur in Coimbatore for the Defence Staff Services College in Wellington.
Around 12.20 p.m., the crash was first reported. The incident was reported to the defence establishment by residents who alerted the district government. The chopper crashed in the woodland region, according to sources, purportedly due to poor visibility caused by heavy fog.
